Back to the world that eats

Two things just happened to me tonight. One-- I watched The Day the Earth Stood Still Remake and I was really into it until it got absolutely bad and turned into crap. I really don't mind that their premise was the ecology of the world as well as violence in humans being a threat to our planet's well being-- in fact I liked that. It was the obvious portions that were crap like plot holes and bad acting and that Smith kid that I don't care if I ever see again in a movie. Why do annoying kids have to be characters in movies? Okay rambling- the point is it's always great to see a movie that actually gives you perspective on our human condition and that each day could be our last so really give it your all and make an effort to put your best face on and choose compassion where possible. I was on one of my favorite blogs and somehow I next came across the short "Meet your Meat" narrated by Alec Baldwin and basically demonstrates the horror that is accepted in our factory-focused meat consuming America. I honestly don't know how the employees sleep. Personally I think Gort from DTESS should eradicate all humans because we are obviously not worth keeping around. I've decided that I'm becoming vegetarian prone and will be researching meats and dairy that I do choose to eat.

Coming Together

I have a fervent desire to see this project (my comic) done now and it's nice being close to a deadline because it's where I always should be but life gets me side-tracked. I think I've learned that there is no better time than now to get things done and your fooling yourself if you schedule in time for something you know is important and put things off. If you just buckle down and do something it can be so liberating. I think that the less people just do, the more they can get caught up in their heads and create drama for themselves that doesn't exist. Speal! Anyway this is a pic of the girls on the team a couple comics in fightin' some scary hooded sistas!

Supa natural

Marriage in Maine

I had the great privilege of attending the legislative hearings in Augusta on Wednesday and seeing truly proud and outstanding citizens giving a voice to a part of our society that has been undermined for too long. My friend stated to me simply that if you are against this issue then you are a bigot. It is funny that the Miss America contest scenario gets played out in the same week. Personally I believe that Miss California was going down anyway and that there are methods to answering a question that doesn't polarize in the way she had. I also recognize that Perez Hilton could have been more intelligent in his harsh characterization of her after the ceremony. I can understand his anger though and the anger of my friend. Some would say that we are not being sensitive to their opinion and we are the bigots. The truth comes down to our society as it stands and not whether we can go back and take "marriage" out of all the social and economic status it had generated but what we can do with what we have right now and right here. I'd be happy if it were truly equal and a different term, but it is not and the reasons people have given for why it should be denied are blatant insults. You are a person and not a group of people that all act in the same manner. Nothing offends me more than someone believing they know that I , by my nature, will not make as good a husband or parent as them. Can you truly make an argument and not also apply it to your life and your concept of normal? The truth is that Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual and Transgendered people are more normal than not because we simply want to live our lives without outsider opinion. I agree with my friend that you are in the wrong to deny people that right. It saddens me to hear that New Hampshire struck down the bills in their respective state. I hope that Maine truly earns the slogan "I Lead." so that we may finally get to the much more pressing issues in this great country.

Not enuff time in the world

Alright so imagine that everytime you sigh you also fight the desire to just go ahead and pass out. Well that's how I feel lately. A virus that cannot come out because I'm good about keeping it down still begs to take over at any sign of weakness. It will not prevail!

I don't know if I even spelled that right. All I know is one day into my routine and I've already managed to screw it up. Can't be helped though- I have a little cold and I need to stay strong. Here is a female character yay!

Da boys

Going back to work and I'm working on a schedule I can stick to. I think that was the most important part of my working at home days. I need to make something that is practical and regimented. I got a life, but I also have to work and the more effort I can put into both, the better things will be as long as I maintain a good sense of rest and reward.

Last day of Vakay

Oh so tired. A nap will need to be taken. Perfect day for pajamas. So I have been working on the ultra secret comic book stuff and have been getting flak for posting dragons. My response is too bad and I'm glad you're following the blog. I have no idea that you'd rather see something else if you don't comment on it though. The blogs of comic books past were the great letters page where fans got to write in what they liked and didn't. Sometimes it is hard to keep up with this site and harder still when there isn't a reward. Comments are my reward for doing this so keep it up. Here is a silly image for the day.

Flaming wings of Fire

I will have a busy weekend but have set myself up with two gorgeous days off next week with which to kick artistic butt. Artwork is coming along swimmingly but of course it takes a while. So you faithful out there get another dragon. A flaming dragon with flaming wings. I chose it because I caught Krod Mondoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire last night on Comedy Central and although it could have been funnier, it was still silly enough to give a chance. I especially like Krod because he is a great actor/hunk and has comedic chops to boot. You may remember him from the 300 spoof Meet the Spartans. Yup rambling.

Laura X

I'm posting a pic I've drawn recently of Wolverine's daughter Laura. Ok okay, she is actually a clone made out of his dna that they could only reproduce in a female embryo or something weird like that. I love her, and I think a femme fatale daughter makes total sense for the three pronged Canuck. She is going to be headstrong and always push her dad's buttons. She has a nice terminator sense to her emotional baggage too and I enjoy that. I'm not as big a fan of Wolverine's supposed son Daken. In my eyes he just looks like a random 80's influenced street punk with some lame claws attached. Oh well I don't know the character that well. It's fun seeing the superheros with kids all grown up!

Change perspective

When the feeling of being confined to a day job gets to be too much, just think about how important that job is to get you where you need to be. Sure you get tired while doing your real occupation but that's what makes it more rewarding. That might be the wrong word but if you aren't trying to do something more important with your life than taking up space it is the word that describes how awesome it would be to have success in that endeavor.

life is work

Don't have too much to say this morning. It would be great to take the day off and draw but I can't do it yet. I need to stick to a schedule on top of a busy day and make it all work. It would be sensible to get work done quickly as well. Done quickly but without stress. I believe that is called "finessing".

another dios another dollar

Here is the second album cover I have done for Monsieur Leach and intend to color it so that will be a fun process for posting as well as the previous album cover and another one to follow. Oh yeah! If you have a more positive outlook toward a hellava lot of work, then you'll do better. At least that's what I'm hopin for. Peace out y'all!

Dismal Dully

It's a rainy weekend. I love the rain. Other people get all moody, but I feel cozy. Of course there is plenty to do on a rainy day and that is what makes me so happy as I don't feel the guilt of not taking advantage of the sun. Went out for a beer last night and sometimes that is better for the soul than forging ahead on the all important creative enterprise. If you don't feed your soul then your work gets tapped. Mmmm Guinness on tap. More Fairieville!

H2O

Here it is a new post! I see Iceman as a really great character that is underused and could be very cool if given the chance. Get it-- cool? Well to be fair he has been evaporated at every cell and reconstituted himself but he was much better when Emma Frost took over his body. I feel he still has yet to break away from the Xdudes and really show how absolutely powerful he is. I mean the guy can control water and that's 70% of the world! Of that 70% 98% is salt water by the way. Did you know only 2% of the world's water is drinkable? awesome fact for ya. Determination is key

Yep another day and another post of stuff I have done that is at least from a year ago but what are you gonna do? I promise myself that some day-- maybe in the summer, I'll have a better handle on keeping this up to date and staying up to date myself. I really love having a check in every day though and recommend it to every serial artist. Just rise above baby.
