I'm feeling stretched thin at the moment and need to express my frustration. I also know that in all honesty I'm doing a lot more work now and that is something to be proud of and reflect on placidly. ahh. there. now here's this.

Slaying the Dragon
While up to hard work that limits my ability to post here, I'll post some old work that was done for a card game like Magic or Pokemon. This one was all about dragons. This nasty dragon was called the Lord of the Undead Dragon and it seems to work well with my idea of the alien snake people bit and he looks particularly nasty. I have finally managed to solve my computer woes even though it is more akin to a band-aid it works and that's what's important! The Dragon is slayed! or at least terribly wounded! Enjoy!

lost time
So I'm sorry that I haven't been able to update the site. I've got some great ideas but time is short and that's no good. I'm still a little behind on my project and that takes precedent. I would post more and I probably will, but not too much lest you not buy the book. On the upswing though-- I have spent a good 2 hours troubleshooting a printing problem that I'm proud to say is fixed and have also purchased a pen that has made me incredibly happy. Here is a pic of it doing it's work next to an actor that has always made me very happy. Hugh!

Alien Demons
So part of my comic book entails that the powerful figures in the world (many religious) are in fact, run by extra-dimensional beings that want to lay waste to our planet and are attempting to make sure that we don't make a fuss about it. Now some of these characters that I've already been designing are more akin to spiritual or supernatural characters, but I'm trying to bridge that idea with science. So I go look around on the internet for people who really believe that alien demons are in league with the powers that be on websites that are normally reserved for conspiracy theorists like my mother. I find this information to be replete with storytelling potential. One such site made mention of the demons who are in fact satanic aliens and have been visiting us for a very long time to make sure that the big bad wins. The hebrew name for this "Serpent" is Nachash and they talk of it resembling a reptile and maybe a bird. I think I'll be using this character.

The Comic Book
I'm taking the day off to really get this thing going so it can be done and sellable. I'm behind schedule and have justlooked over the project as a whole and realize that almost half the beginning pages must be done over if I'm to be happy. Good wake up call that. The good news is my work has gotten irrefutably better. The bad news is it makes the old stuff look tres terrible. Ok, so that rough I posted a while back? This is is it finished. For comparison and such. See ya later!

Not Lost
Well maybe I am because I had to watch this show last night and that shouldn't be a priority but it is. I haven't posted in ages it seems. I'll try and make that up to you today. To be fair, I don't believe I got anyone's likeness correct, but it was a sketch and it was meant to evoke some sense of each character's face. Please don't ask me who's who because that would really make me want to do it over. That isn't a bad thing though, everyone has rough days.

The mandy and berryl show
Every now and again we can allow ourselves to do something silly. In that regard I have done what many artists do when creatively tapped-- I have cartoonized my pets. I'm not especially proud of this but will acknowledge it's inherent funness. I keep singing the theme song to the itchy and scratchy show as I write this so that is how I picture my pets--existing in a comedic parody on violence. That is what they do, but they stay attached at the hip so to speak. In the vein of today, Mandy is an Irish Terrier as well so Happy St. Patty's day to all!

Issues
I have to contend with this word on a couple levels. I'm sorry world, the Gods of chance have left me without the ability to post at my preferred speed. Working on a couple things right now like always. Can't show you or it'd never be a surprise. In that vein, enjoy this bloodspattery image I did a while back of one of my favorite Kings.

breaking the 4th wall
Dully here is totally right, I need to really start thinking about my background work. Especially complex inner city scenes. Might take some time out this weekend and sketch the city. Too bad it's so cold. Artists are tough--I'll pull through. Also I want to work with Dully here. He is a comic strip I abandoned and if there aren't supes I need to draw, I'll make a funny.

Chris' torch
As Cinematical has reported and the great site mynewplaidpants.com, there are plans underway to re-vamp the Fantastic Four Franchise. Apparently some fans are excited by the possibility of a new treatment with all new actors. I personally say it would be a shame to waste Chris Evans' talent. Sure, Push left some loose threads but this guy made the Human Torch somebody I actually thought twice about. He was one of the best parts of those movies. Those movies suffered through other horrible casting choices though on top of overly marketed hollow plots that were designed around toys and products instead of the other way around. I personally believe the presence of Galactus would have made the last movie memorable enough to have been more of a success. When was the last time you had a stay puft marshmallow man that could also shoot lazers and wear purple never? Oh that'd be a great movie character! oh no-- no one will believe that after a guy made out of rocks?? Anyway--keep Chris Evans! I love him. Hear that Chris? That's right I'm another stalker..

the return of magik
One of my favorite characters is making her way back from the dead, or limbo I guess. Ms. Rasputin died of the legacy virus and it was very sad. Jubilee was there. It was also poignant and even sadder because it wasn't the Illyana that I fell in love with growing up but a version that had been de-aged by what I can't say because I stopped buying The New Mutants for a good long time. So now she is a devil, even though when she left she turned into an angel. Back story? It'll happen--maybe. I just always pitied her and hated it when she left bits of her soul everywhere. I also fell in love with her-- great character crush that. So now Nightcrawler's leaving the team? aw man. That makes no sense! Illyana needs the fuzzy elf and speaking of who else needs fuzzy elf-- KITTY! I'm so sad about Kitty being lost in space on a bullet. WHEDON!! fix it! great story but fix it! I miss Kitty!!!

those heroes
I used to love this show and hopefully Bryan Fuller can bring it back. The effects coming up look pretty good. Remember when Peter was actually cool and could shoot electricity? I wish he hadn't gotten so lame. I need some Petrelli payback Fuller! Kill the cheerleader already! oh! and thank goodness Milo V. broke it off with her! You'll be fine Milo-- she was way too blonde for you anyway!

Lame day
Watchmen
I have seen this movie twice now and it has been out one day. I'm very tired. The first time I saw it I had a hard time reconciling it to the graphic novel because I thought it was more successful on some levels. The question of the ending especially makes more sense than the graphic novel. I really appreciate the graphic novel because it has beauty and nuance. The movie has style and vision. In essence I like them both immensely for what they are. I love Crudup's Dr. M because of his distance and minimal compassion. For me his is the manifestation of indifference. I think indifference is really where spirituality needs to be. You can't really tell someone to go be spiritual or religious and have that be the end. People who really investigate spirit will find out that they are truly just observers of life in all it's forms and afterward you just feel so very happy to exist to experience it. That's Dr. Manhattan. He doesn't have morals or judgement. He really is just a benevolent god.
Then you get to humanity and I love the dichotomy here between Rorschach and Ozymandias. Truly the relationship is Liberal (hey! I'm liberal but not that way!) versus Conservative (in an insane way-- considering conservative doesn't mean insane). We have two ways to seek out justice in the world and that is either to have an aggressive or passive side. We can seek out the death penalty or we can ask people to be responsible for themselves and work toward the higher good. Both heroes ultimately look for peace, but both are hindered by human nature and the inability to accept chaos. I find Rorschach to be the sweeter truth of the two because I prefer his personal drive over Ozymandias'ideals. The truth is though that I believe in what Ozymandias is saying-- that humanity truly needs to be shocked into action to shake it's complacent and apathetic sheepness. What I take away from the movie and gladly so is that you really need to do all of these things and maintain all of these concepts to be a hero in your own personal universe. I think we need to be driven to work hard and get our hands dirty so that we can insure peace for all people and truly be happy with life while we live it second to millisecond. awww.

I Love the Watchmen
Yeah I have slacked, so just to let you know what I have been working on I will show you how hard and upsetting it can be sometimes to try and get someone's face right. Especially a character's face because you haven't seen them before, but you know the subtleties of other faces and what you want to convey. Anyway that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it-- Tomorrow, or actually today-- A full review of Watchmen. The greatest movie I've seen in a while.

I would spend all day drawing
Or at least that is my ultimate plan. Wicked tough not to get sleepy after a full day of work and eating a big dinner. I think a huge barrier to overcome in being able to work on this stuff is to not allow television and a full stomach to ruin me for the night. Still this is a commission work for a friend so I'm sure it counts for 2 days.

Steel Resolve
Ah there isn't enough time in the day to enjoy everything. I am so extra tired, but art must be made! I picture this being an extended scene in X2 when Pete gets the kids out of the mansion safely. If only they could flub a russian accent and go one extra mile to make those movies good. Ah well, if you have a better version- quit griping and let the world see it!
